- My Top 5 Recommendations -

As an American, "Canadian food" isn't much different from American food. Try the poutine once, but where nyc really shines is the Chinese and Japanese food. I'll break down my top 5 picks now!

Keens Steakhouse

Keens Steakhouse is an absolute classic, and their legendary mutton chop lives up to all the hype. The meat is incredibly tender with a deep, rich flavor that feels like a step back in time, something truly unique compared to the usual steakhouse cuts. It is perfectly cooked, with a slight char on the outside and juicy, flavorful meat on the inside that practically melts in your mouth. Pairing it with their creamy mashed potatoes and a side of sautéed spinach made for one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. Keens is a place I will always recommend for a true New York dining experience.

Prince Street Pizza

Prince Street Pizza is one of my all-time favorite spots for a slice. Their signature square pepperoni slice is perfection with its crispy crust, tangy sauce, and those iconic, slightly greasy pepperoni cups that pack so much flavor. The spicy vodka slice is another standout, with its creamy sauce and just the right amount of heat for something different but equally satisfying. The line might be long, but every bite makes it worth the wait - it’s pizza I’ll keep coming back for, no matter what.

99 Favor Taste

99 Favor Taste in Manhattan is one of my favorite spots for hot pot. You have to try the tomato broth - rich, tangy, and perfect for cooking all the meats and vegetables. The seafood, like the shrimp, squid, and mussels, is impressively fresh. I love experimenting with the unique options they offer, like quail eggs and different types of tofu - t makes every visit feel customizable and exciting. Cooking right at the table adds such a fun, interactive element, and it’s so satisfying to watch everything come together.

Cote

Cote in New York City might just be one of my favorite dining experiences ever. I tried the Butcher's Feast, and every single steak cut, from the USDA Prime to the American Wagyu, was cooked to perfection right at my table and packed with incredible flavor. I loved how the meal felt like a celebration, with all the variety — the banchan, the rich stews, and even the refreshing soft-serve dessert at the end. Every bite reminded me why I love perfectly cooked steak and made me so glad I chose to eat here.

Idashi Omakase

The 16-course omakase at Idashi, priced at just $99, might have been one of my favorite meals of all time. Each piece felt carefully crafted, with flavors that were both fresh and memorable. The ebi and foie gras combination was rich and indulgent, while the Otoro caviar melted in my mouth. The uni ikura don was perfectly balanced, and the wagyu topped with uni and truffle was pure decadence. Every course stood out in its own way, and the quality and creativity of the dishes easily rival omakase experiences at twice the price. It’s rare to find a spot where I enjoy every single piece, but Idashi definitely delivered!
